So I have a 96 auto NA. A number of months ago it lost reverse... just went out suddenly. All fwd gears work fine, I actually use this car for my daily commute at the moment. No issues at city or highway speeds. Shifts fine, not hard, but smooth. I happen to have another auto tranny and all components that I pulled out of my other car when converting to 5speed. I planned to just swap them, but time is just never on my side to get this accomplished. Question is... are there other things that I could try swapping out to troubleshoot the issue and get my reverse back? The service manual is no help, it is all just diag type stuff... no swapping of hard components. Is the tranny toast? or do you thing I would be fruitful in swapping out shifting mechanisms, computers/controllers, etc.? thanks in advance.
